Security Features | Listserv Policies | Subscription Management
The SWASFAA Listserv is available for use by SWASFAA
members.
To post a message to a specific group, click one of the following links:
SWASFAAL
You will need your Username, Password and current membership.
Please read the following before proceeding.
New security features have been put in place to prevent the spread of viruses and spam.
Please take time to read about the new ListLock system.
- ListLock was developed as a result of thousands of requests from individuals and institutions whose servers and email were being bogged down by unsolicited spam and virus messages. Institutions have been forced to put stringent restrictions on incoming mail, including rejecting mail with any type of attachment. ListLock addresses those issues.
- All messages will be posted through the ListLock Submission interface, requiring your Username, Password and current membership.
- Only text messages will be distributed to the list, eliminating the problem of many institution's servers rejecting messages with attachments. Follow the simple instructions for complete the submission form.
- To share any files that would normally be included as an attachment, please complete step 2 (optional). Your .doc, .pdf, .rtf, .jpg or .txt file can be uploaded by browsing your computer and locating the file. A link to the uploaded file will be automatically included in your email message to the list. The uploaded file will be available for 10 days.
- When a person receives your message, they can click on the link to view the uploaded file, which can be saved on a person's computer by using their browser's "save as" option.
- Only messages posted through ListLock will be distributed to the listserv. For security, emails sent directly to the list or replies to the list will be automatically discarded.
- Please Note: The time until your message actually posts to the list is dependent on the number of messages in the queue on the server. At peak times there may be delays.
- If you need assistance, contact support@swasfaa.org.
Listserv Policies:
Following are policies to which we ask our SWASFAA Listserv (SwasfaaL) subscribers
to adhere:
- Messages to SwasfaaL must have a subject.
- Messages to SwasfaaL are to be kept "on topic"; they should be
related to the Administration of Financial Aid.
- SwasfaaL is not to be used for business purposes. Implicit in this statement
is advertising. For-profit, nonprofit, and government entities are not permitted
to use SwasfaaL as a vehicle for advertising their products or services. This
includes products and services for which there is no cost. Service and operational announcements by these entities can be made if they are open to all members
of SWASFAA and do not promote the entity or its products. Job change announcements should be for
informational purposes (i.e. new company, title, phone numbers, address) and not include any promotion of
the institution or company. Exceptions to this policy can only to approved by the SWASFAA Board.
- "Job Wanted" postings are not permitted. Rather, we suggest that
you reflect your availability in your signature area. For example: Advisor position sought: www.myschool.edu/smiths_resume.html
- "Position Available" postings are permitted. These should be
absent any advertisement promoting the institution or company with the position available. The emphasis should be
on the open position, not the institution or company.
- Virus messages, e-mail scams, and the like are not permitted. In general,
our individual organizations should have policies in place to deal with these threats (virus software, for
example). SwasfaaL should not be the vehicle for those types of announcements.
Exception: If your information regarding a threat has specific and direct bearing
on the Financial Aid community, please contact bandre@hendrix.edu for
clearance.
- Postings in excess of 200 lines are rejected. Shorten the message, or provide
a URL in the body of the message to point to other relevant information.
- The SwasfaaL Digest is generated daily. If collective size of postings
on a particular day exceeds 30Kb, the Digest is generated immediately, and also at the scheduled time.
- TEST messages are not permitted. If you have difficulty posting or are
in need of further assistance, please contact support@swasfaa.org.
- Subscriptions for individuals whose e-mail bounces for five days will
be suspended. Since bouncing e-mail is evidence of a problem somewhere, the
only awareness you may have of the situation may be the absence of SwasfaaL
postings in your mailbox. Contact support@swasfaa.org if you feel you have
beensuspended.
